A Note of Thanks From Me

I always tell others that we are nothing more than the stories we are willing to give away. We are meant to light our souls on fire because it helps light the way to a path we must all walk along. So from the deepest parts of me, thank you so much. From the boy inside me who was beaten and told he was nothing, from the boy inside me who was picked over for heroin, from the boy inside me who was told he would never be good enough and should never have been born, from the man who has been alone, who has been divorced, and lost friends in deployment and warzone, from the man who has been reduced to poverty, jailed, abandoned, and petitioned many places around this great world — Thank you. Thank you to every person who has the courage to sweep up broken glass in daylight while onlookers watch. Thank you to everyone who has told a story. Our stories are roads connecting us, and we cannot well travel roads when we do not know they exist.
