I think it’s easy to be idealistic in your 20s. One day you’ll reflect on that. I don’t know who or what you’re referring to. (It doesn’t matter.) Although I would like to read the moving and artistic piece you found. I like art.
Unfortunately, the reality is this. Entrepreneur to artist is a spectrum and not even all that clearly delineated. Your article smacks of American hipsters who can’t listen to underground music once it’s no longer underground.
Much of this is subjective but as someone who’s been writing for a lot of years, I feel safe in saying (for myself) the artistic “concept” is overrated. I do love making art. I would also love to make money for my art.
As for selling my pain. Or reproducing the same four stories. I empathize with that. On both sides. And again I think there are degrees to it. Oftentimes, I think writing is about telling old stories in new ways with new tongues.
