I think the whole niche discussion is a little overvalued. In my opinion niche is created naturally when an artist focuses on quality. The weight of quality creates niche without trying. In my opinion the best niche is understanding what you can and want to do with your work and then executing really well. And all of that is part of the quality's function/form.
