I treat each entire piece with the same notion I keep when writing: show don't tell. It's an old adage because it's a true adage. Don't tell people what to think, show them something honest and let them feel it. That's really all an artist's job is. An artist doesn't try to control the outcome because an artist understands he's only part of the equation.
