It’s not all. In all seriousness I have a lot of thoughts about weapon safety in America. And let’s all agree as a starting point that what we are doing currently is not working. I don’t think people need to own assault rifles. I don’t think anyone anywhere should be allowed to purchase a firearm and take it home same day. I have thoughts. Reasonable ones. At least in my estimation.

However, suggesting that decals are a form of intimidation strikes me as comedically hyperbolic. People are always going to have feelings, reactions, etc, about anything and everything. People also banned Catcher in the Rye and tried cancelling Dave Chappell. think it’s important to instill strength in people and a level of ownership around self-management. It’s every person’s responsibility to manage their own emotions. Their fear, their anger. I would never suggest to my kids that they should expect to be non-malleable and demand the world adapt to their feelings.

I think there’s a middle road here. A healthy compromise. I don’t have all the answers but I get very nervous when people start suggesting we need to accommodate feelings. I think we need to accommodate rationality and reasonableness. I do agree that it should be the job of any good man or woman to protect the vulnerable and innocent. I think a form of doing that is to empower and instill strength and self-awareness.
